Il Borro wedding venue Tuscany

The Ferragamo family owns the Il Borro wedding venue and estate in Tuscany. When I say "Ferragamo," I am referring to the same family as the fashion label. You can this idyllic retreat about 45 minutes south of Florence. The resort is set in a very rural and quiet area of Tuscany. It is a perfect luxury retreat for discerning clients that seek a unique and private destination wedding in Italy.

I am particularly fond of photographing Il Borro weddings as I photographed two weddings for the Ferragamo family at this brilliant location. Now, when I go back, I have great memories of those experiences and am always excited to create beautiful new memories.

Arriving at Il Borro, the first thing you will notice is the impressive entrance. As the gates open, a cypress tree-lined driveway leads you down to the villa. On the sides are lovely paddocks with beautiful horses. Horseback riding is a popular activity at this relais châteaux.

Can you imagine horse riding in the olive groves and vineyards and then enjoying a lavish spa relaxation package?

At the end of the driveway, you pass the cantina and wine cellars and then reach the reception. The main villa remains on the other side of another gated area so you can start to get an idea of the privacy here.

The villa at Il Borro is gorgeous; hiring this for your wedding day is a real treat. With spacious rooms and large common spaces, you can relax and let the villa staff look after you. Amongst these areas, there is a billiard room, a gym, and an indoor swimming pool. The resort also has a full spa complex and outdoor swimming pools.

Besides the luxury suites in the main villa, further accommodation is available in the medieval village of Il Borro. The hamlet is picture-perfect. Looking at it from the villa is almost like looking at a painting.

There are many charming suites located in this quintessentially Tuscan village atmosphere. At the center of the old village are a little square and the church, which is a beautiful church for a catholic wedding ceremony.

In front of the entrance to the village, you can find Osteria del Borro, a chic restaurant serving delicious traditional Tuscan food.

A great deal of variety and choice

Il Borro is a Tuscan wedding venue that is extremely flexible and offers many solutions for any group size. I have photographed weddings at Il Borro that vary from small intimate quintessentially Tuscan affairs to large lavish affairs with 300 people.

The grounds of the estate are extensive, and so it is also easy to choose one of the many gardens or terraces for a beautiful symbolic ceremony under the Tuscan sun. The surrounding Tuscan countryside consists of olives and lovely vineyards; these produce Il Borro's own delicious red and white wines. These vineyards are easy to get to and provide an excellent backdrop for photos.

Beneath the main villa, there is the Italian garden with its central fountain. These gardens are an idyllic spot for cocktails and relaxing. Many people choose to have their reception on the lower terrace and look out over the Italian garden towards the medieval hamlet of Il Borro.

Later, after dinner, you can cut the cake and witness some fireworks before the partying the night away!
