Intimate portraits – couple photo session
Your photo session and portraits as a couple are most likely the photos that will make it to enlargement, and ultimately onto a wall in your home. After the wedding ceremony, at some stage, I will take you for a few photos together.
We're Not Comfortable Having Our Photos Taken
We all feel uncomfortable when we have to do things that we have little or no experience doing. Unless you are a celebrity or model, it is unlikely that you are often photographed by a professional photographer, hence, I understand that it will be a new feeling for you.
I choose to leave your photos until later in the day. This way you are feeling amazing. You are now married and your wedding is going perfectly… you are having the best day of your lives.
When I am taking your photos I am not going to pose you making you feel awkward, I am going to ask you to take a stroll, hold hands, talk to each other and express yourselves to one another. Walking and talking are things you do all day, every day, so you are experts at it. Total relaxation is normal when we are doing things that we don’t even have to think about.
Admittedly, I always choose somewhere with beautiful surroundings and fantastic light for your photos. By doing things that for you are completely effortless you will get photos looking happy and in love in one of the most beautiful places on earth. There are plenty of examples on my website.
How Long Will Our Couple Session & Portraits Take?
In the months running up to the wedding, we will discuss how much time you want to allocate to these pictures. It doesn’t take long at all to do them.
Remember you may not be as quick on your feet as you usually are in your wedding dress and heels! 15 minutes is the minimum amount of time for your couple session, I can create a lot of photos in fifteen minutes. If you prefer to take less time that’s fine and if you want more then great! More time means we can go to more places and change the scenery: so if you want the vineyard shots as well as olives, and cypress trees and white roads then we will have time to go to them.
My clients say they really enjoy their private photo sessions. It’s an opportunity to get away from the guests and spend a little time alone. During the entire day you will have been apart up until the ceremony, and then after the ceremony, you have people to talk to and so you won’t really have an opportunity to be together. Well, now is your chance.
I want to take you away to a quiet place with some beautiful scenery and perfect light, and just let you be you.
Advice To Get Better Photos/Portraits Of Yourselves
Contact us- Make sure you check and refresh your hair and makeup before we start the photos.
- If you want to be adventurous consider switching to a pair of wedges that are the same height as your heels. It will make it easier to walk on soft ground.
- Try and avoid creating tan lines prior to your wedding.
- Moisturize – dry skin, especially the lips is very difficult to Photoshop.
- Make sure you are not hungry!
After your short private photo session, you can either head back to the cocktails and aperitifs or it may be time to go to the wedding dinner and the reception.

It was an intimate ceremony so just myself, my groom, and some family members – I did not have bridesmaids or anyone to help with other tasks. Jules was truly a Jack of all trades on this day – not only giving us great customer service by taking AMAZING photos, but also moving around clothes, furniture, accessories, giving us bug spray, and communicating with the hotel staff to ensure that our day (and photos!) went as smoothly as possible. Jules was professional, punctual, and thoughtful the entire day & evening that he was with us.
After about 15 minutes of taking photos in the extreme heat & humidity, it would have been easy to give up – but Jules was there to take photographs, so he hyped us up, gave us energy, and made us feel like we could really take beautiful photos even though we were hot, fatigued, and ready for cold beverages.
We took photos at hidden gem locations that only the eye of a legendary photographer like Jules could find. Fast forward to less than 48 hours later, Jules had already selected, edited, and sent me all the photos in an easy-to-access format. Now, the best part: The photos. They were utterly stunning and perfect.

My husband and I were both a bit nervous in the morning, as neither of us were used to having our photo taken. But Jules guided us through through the day and really helped put us at ease. By the time the ceremony started, we hardly noticed the camera and Jules was able to capture the best moments. The resulting photos were nothing short of stunning.

He is a consummate professional from beginning to end, and his finished product is beyond incredible. The suite of pictures we received is perfectly representative of us as a couple, and I believe that is in large part because of the time he spent prior to the event getting to know us.
Since we were an international wedding, Jules was always available for video calls and emails, to ensure that he fully understood our vision, the event, and what we hoped to walk away with. He also studied our wedding site and event location to give expert artistic input and ideas around what would photograph best and at what time.
We actually moved around our ceremony, cocktails and dinner location due to his lighting suggestions, and the end result of the photography was simply breathtaking.
Jules also goes above and beyond the call of duty as a photographer; he is happy to lend a helping hand the day of the wedding and has zero pretention around what fits the job description of photographer. He is also just a relaxed, cool and smart guy.
Jules is a person you want to hangout with outside of wedding day interaction. My now husband is not exceptionally photogenic and clams up in front of cameras. Jules figured out how to make him look natural and comfortable, and that is in large part due to his personable and chill demeanor. That said, if Jules needs someone to get into or out of a shot, he smoothly makes sure it gets done – he is very capable of grabbing the attention of a large group.
Upon his recommendation, Jules also took us on a short sunset photo shoot away from our guests during the cocktail hour; it was a welcome and fun time to get away from the crowd, loosen up and get back into the moment of why we were there – to get married! These are some of my favorite photos, and we would have never taken them if not for Jules! In addition, I am sitting here typing after just getting back from my honeymoon and am in complete shock that I have already received ALL of my photos (even the edited highlights) in a few weeks time post event.
There is something truly magical about just getting home, with the wedding glow still fresh, and being able to keep it going with thousands of stellar photos that capture the entire event in a way that is even more beautiful than you remembered. I am blown away and grateful for the fast turnaround.
Finally, and most importantly, the quality of Jules’ work can’t be matched. I spent countless hours seeking out and reviewing international professional photographers, pouring through innumerable pictures.
What sets Jules apart, in my opinion, is his ability to capture not only his subjects in a relaxed and stunning manner, but also to incorporate the setting and majesty of the event all in the same photo. Every photo is a nod to not only us, but also the beautiful surroundings that we worked so hard to create for our wedding day.
When you look at our pictures, you would think that it was a team capturing everything – but it was all Jules! Also, his use and understanding of light is like no other photographer I have seen. Some of his techniques he used on the dance floor with lighting would lend you to believe that they were heavily edited, but they were originals!
That said, his photo editing skills are also top notch. He made me look like an absolute model in many photos, yet nothing looked over produced or unrealistic. He is a true genius.
There are not enough words to express how thankful I am to Jules, and I highly recommend having him capture any special event. If you don’t believe me, just look at any of his work, it stands out in a talented crowd and is breathtakingly unique.
