This lovely Hotel Luna Baglioni wedding in Venice is for a perfect couple that decides to elope. What an honor to photograph an event that is so private and special. Many people decide to have a wedding in Italy and of course invite friends and family. However, elopements in Italy are growing in popularity.
Hotel Luna Baglioni wedding – Getting Ready
As hair and makeup are being done I take some photos of the bride’s dress and accessories to set the mood for the shoot.
First I am going to photograph the groom getting ready. It takes no more than 5 minutes to capture some photos of him preparing as he is one his own. Once he is dressed, I take him downstairs to the bar and tell him where to wait. He orders a coffee and reads a newspaper while I head upstairs to photograph the bride.

The room is lovely so we have fun taking a few bridal portraits once she is ready. Next, we head down to the reception where she will meet the groom in front of the hotel for an excited and emotional first look. They are going to the church in a special Royal Gondola, it is so peaceful and romantic as they drift along the smaller canals.
I am following them in a water taxi so I can take some photos of the whole gondola without me being in it. At a certain point, we also have to do a very small stretch of the Canal Grande but it is a lovely moment as they pass in front of Piazza San Marco.

Chiesa di San Giorgio dei Greci wedding
They arrive at the church, the Chiesa di San Giorgio dei Greci. This is in a lovely area and is very quiet, ideal for an intimate wedding like theirs. The ceremony is perfect. After, they exit to petals and playfully improvise an impromptu first dance.

Next, we take the gondola to drift around a few more canals before stopping in Piazza San Marco. In the square, I take a few quick photos and manage to find a spot without too many tourists.

We then take a water taxi to a few locations slightly further away. After these photos, we return to the city center and then to the Hotel Luna Baglioni. Back at the hotel, they had a real first dance, a Bellini and then I leave them to enjoy their quiet romantic dinner. I get to photograph in many locations but this Hotel Luna Baglioni wedding is special in its intimacy and elegance.
This is an intimate elopement in Venice, if you want to see a larger wedding have a look at this wonderful wedding on Giudecca.
