L’Olmo Podere a Pienza wedding

You can find L’Olmo Podere a Pienza just beneath Monticchiello, the delightful little village that lies on the edge of the stunning Val d’Orcia. Nearby you can also visit Pienza that is famous for its delicious Pecorino cheese. This area is beautiful and a short drive away you can visit the gorgeous gardens of La Foce. After quite a long drive up a dirt road, you can also reach Castiglioncello del Trinoro and Hotel Monteverdi.

I start this L’Olmo Podere a Pienza wedding by taking some photos of the venue and the incredible views. It is a very hot day in July and the Val d’Orcia is an intense golden yellow colour with deep blue skies. Thankfully, it is also very windy and this just takes the edge of the intense heat.

Inside the groom is getting ready. There are jokes and laughs as they help each other get ready. Once they are ready a nice shot of single malt helps them on their way.

Upstairs, the bride is finishing hair and makeup so I join the ladies for a few photos and a toast before they all start to get ready and then help the bride with her dress and accessories.

Diane Rossi from Blessings from Italy conducts a lovely symbolic ceremony in the gardens overlooking the beautiful scenery, it is emotional and intimate as the celebrant’s words are personal and touching for the couple. After about a twenty-five minute ceremony they exchange rings and a kiss and exit and receive hugs, kisses, and congratulations from all the guests.

Everyone enjoys some prosecco and refreshments in a shaded area and the caterers serve some delicious local delicacies. As the sun gets a little lower in the sky I then take all the group and family photos with the views of the countryside in the background. Next, while the guests enjoy the sunset we go for some portraits in the hotel gardens and just outside. Everywhere you go here is beautiful so you don’t have to go far at all!

On returning to L’Olmo I quickly go to photograph the lovely dinner setup. The unique color palette and hanging chandeliers are beautiful with the stone backdrop and seclusion of the hotel courtyard. Emotional speeches and great food follow.

Later in the evening, the cake is cut by the pool. Then the couple performs their unique first dance before the open bar starts and the DJ gets the party going.
