Castello di Velona – Mesmerizing wedding venue
Firstly, the castle is spectacular. Sitting on top of a hill, it overlooks the countryside and dominates the surrounding scenery. On arrival, a long driveway snakes its way up to the hotel. Along the way, you catch glimpses of olives and vineyards and gaping views. Once you arrive at the castle entrance, you then start to see some of the fantastic views.
Just inside the hotel, a lovely bright, spacious lounge area greets you. This leads to the reception and one of the restaurant areas.
If you walk straight through the foyer, you will exit the other side and soon discover the swimming pool area, and at this point, the views are just even better. You can see all around endless panoramas. Castello di Velona is an excellent wedding location!
Getting ready for the ceremony
The wedding ceremony is going to take place on the north terrace, which is the terrace at the front of the castle. While the florists are busy setting up this area, I photograph the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready and the groom.
The bride is in a ground-level suite that opens out onto the west side of the castle. Castello di Velona has some beautiful rooms and this space is ideal for wedding preparations. She is in high spirits with her sisters. The excitement and anticipation of the wedding ceremony are palpable. The bride finishes getting her dress on, and she looks unbelievable. Next, we have the ceremony.
Emotional wedding ceremony
The groom and guests are all waiting on the terrace in a beautiful setting. The bride arrives with her proud father, and beaming smiles. The ceremony is very intimate and joyful as a close family member marries the lovely couple. With the gorgeous Tuscan scenery all around and the dramatic architecture of Castello di Velona, it is a special location for a wedding.
At the end of the ceremony, they release two white doves, a little acknowledgment of their German heritage. It’s a lovely symbolic moment before the newlyweds walk down the aisle together.
Castello di Velona wedding reception and party
After the ceremony, there is a drinks reception and music. All the guests enjoy refreshments canapes. Next, after plenty of time relaxing and socializing we do some family photos. These are fun with the incredible views behind the families. Last but not least, we then head off to take some portraits before dinner.
Castello di Velona has terraces on different levels that surround the castle, the wedding reception and party are on the east terrace. To follow, there are some funny speeches and then the cake cutting and party end this exciting wedding in the heart of Tuscany.
