As wedding photographers we prefer to photograph your preparations and getting ready for the wedding. The preparations are a very important part of your wedding day as they are the introduction to the wedding day itself. We create a record of the emotions and events during the period leading up to the wedding.
Generally we concentrate on the bride more as she takes longer to prepare herself and often supplies more interesting moments as probably the bridesmaids are present and also the mother of the bride.
The grooms preparations can also be photographed but this should require much less time as he gets ready much quicker. However once the groom is ready we can get some more fun photos of him and the best men together.
Neither of you will be aware of what the other has been up to for the hours before the wedding. By having the photographs of the preparations taken you will be able to share what happened in those hours you were apart, the laughs, the tears and all the other beautiful moments.
If you haven’t had chance to meet us before the wedding then the preparations are essential as they will give you time to get used to having a photographer with you. Some people aren’t bothered by the presence of a photographer however some people need a while to get used to it. By having the preparations photographed by the time we go to the wedding ceremony itself you will be used to being photographed and so you will be completely comfortable in front of the camera for the wedding ceremony itself.
Should we have photographs of the groom getting ready?
You can have photos of the groom’s preparations, these are generally much easier to do and require a lot less time. Should you want to have them done then we need to schedule things so that we can cover both without sacrificing one or the other. The groom and best men getting ready can generally be covered in about 10-15 minutes. The other option is to have two photographers. If you are interested in having the groom’s preparations as well make sure you let us know and we can sort out the best solution.
