When Denise first contacted me the brief was very simple, she wanted some photos around the town, some in the countryside and she wanted to make sure things weren’t a drag for the kids attending the wedding. After a few emails I knew that we were going to get along just fine as her ideas were clear, well defined and realistic. When I am invited to photograph a small event I feel especially privileged as when there are a few adults and children whom you know are their nearest and dearest it is an honor to be allowed to join such an intimate gathering.
The venue for this wedding in Tuscany was Certaldo Alto, a small medieval hill top town not far from San Gimignano but comparatively less known; it is quiet, rustic, secluded, picturesque and full of character. I arrived at the hotel and went and found Denise starting her preparations. We had only ever exchanged a few emails but a few moments after introducing myself we were chatting and having fun as she is one of the sweetest people I have ever met.
The civil wedding took place in a church next to the town hall as the courtyard where they normally perform the weddings was closed for some renovation work. Just before bride’s entrance I went to the church and met the groom Kevin who was eagerly awaiting his beloved with twinges of nervous anticipation and excitement! Denise and Kevin both work in theater and curently star in the Broadway musical sensation Jersey Boys, they both have great style and I can only hope that my photos in some small way manage to portray the immense love and connection between them.
Here are just a few photos from this Certaldo Alto wedding in Tuscany.
