This Castello di Celsa wedding is actually a stylized shoot to show off the potential and beauty of this incredible Tuscany castle wedding venue.
The Castle dates back to the 12th century. Around the 15th century, an expansion and further development took place for the Celsi family. You will find the estate about 20 kilometers to the west of Siena. It sits on a little hill that gives it a great vantage point and views over the surrounding countryside. The castle is not visible from outside its grounds. A long driveway and surrounding forests protect it from prying eyes.
There is a small converted farmhouse on the grounds that can accommodate 10 people. They can enjoy the swimming pool and lovely gardens.
For a castle wedding in Tuscany, Castello di Celsa is wonderful. Photographically it is a very suggestive location and has a very romantic feeling. Some castles are quite imposing and have a belligerent feel but the atmosphere at Celsa is like a fairy tale.
After a few photos of the grounds and castle in the sunshine the wind picks up and a storm arrives. Rushing, I take a few photos of the delightful round chapel before I head inside to escape the rain.
Inside there are some lovely details and items for me to photograph. After a few photos of the groom, I concentrate on the bride and her lovely wedding dress. The dress is very light and flowing and lends itself to a playful nature. Outside, things may be gloomy, but inside, we are having plenty of fun.
I enjoy photographing the bride as she floats down the corridor on her way to the ceremony.
A symbolic ceremony is set up at the bottom of the Italian gardens. This is a lovely location, the views of the surrounding countryside are great. Our ceremony is overcast and quite dark but the colors and textures of the gardens bring the images to life. There is a lot of space here so this could easily accommodate much larger groups.
After the ceremony, there is time for pictures in a few locations around the grounds. The weather is threatening to cut things short and the heavy clouds are stealing the light. We have to hurry… and even have to run a few times!
A dinner table for 12 people is set and would be a delightful location for any small intimate wedding. The grounds also offer plenty of space and alternatives for much larger groups.
