Saint Moritz wedding Switzerland

Saint Moritz wedding Switzerland

It is a privilege to spend a week with a lovely couple from New York photographing their Saint Moritz wedding.

Since we met, we clicked, and it was clear we were all on the same wavelength. Not only from a professional but also from an artistic point of view. This is a family who lives and breathes art, and bouncing off each other ideas is their favorite pass time.

Before the event, we brainstorm about all the possible ways to make this Saint Moritz wedding a spectacular production. The client is very hands-on down to the most minute detail. They dedicate a lot of effort into making their wedding a living dream for all those attending. They are their own wedding planners and want to create a beautiful winter wedding for themselves, their wedding party and guests.

Saint Moritz wedding in December

When I first arrive in Saint Moritz, we have a meeting to finalize the last few details for the wedding. Then I get to photograph a lovely welcome dinner in a typical mountain restaurant. Horses and sleds take all the guests up the mountain to the lodge. Halfway, they offer some hot mulled wine. This is a great way to introduce everyone to this world-renowned ski resort and the festivities to come.

The following day guests were free to enjoy activities around St. Moritz while the closest family attended a family dinner and the signing of the Ketubah. The bride looked radiant and elegant in her long Pronovias white gown.

Finally, the big day arrives. I start early in the morning, taking pictures of the surrounding Saint Moritz sceneries to set the scene for the wedding destination. Next, I move into the gorgeous penthouse to take photos of the details. The first gown is a delicate pink Monique Lhuillier dress with Swarovski crystals while the shoes are by Louboutin.

The bride chose not to have bridesmaids, but 2 cousins joined her for the preparations together with her mum.

In the meanwhile, on the opposite side of the massive 3 bedroom suite, the groom is getting ready for the wedding with his brother and his father, the male dress code is the most formal White tie. Outside, the views of Saint Moritz are lovely.

Once the groom and the guests made their way to the ceremony area, I positioned myself waiting for the bride to make her grand entrance. It is a lovely ceremony, a Rabbi eloquently conducts the wedding.

Immediately after the ceremony, we took some family pictures while the guests were enjoying their cocktail hour.

While the guests enjoy some champagne, I take the newly-weds for a few photos at the entrance of the venue. Being a winter wedding in Saint Moritz outside the temperature is about -20° Centigrade or -4° Fahrenheit! We use a vintage Roll Royce car for a few photos and head inside to warm up.

We all then made our way to the reception hall. The hall decoration is inspired by the Nutcracker and ballerinas from La Scala in Milan perform some pieces from the famous ballet.

The bride and groom shared their first dance with everyone as they danced elegantly to the notes of Anastasia’s Once upon a December, while snow gently falls from the sky.

After their dance, the bride goes to change her dress for the evening reception, while she does this, I photograph the general atmosphere. When she reappears, she is wearing her hair down and a Galia Lahav dress. It is time for the cutting of a gigantic white 5 tier cake. After the wedding cake cutting a lavish buffet with a predominant theme of Swiss chocolate is available to the guests, ideal for a wedding in Saint Moritz. Next, the band starts to play, setting the mood for the party that goes on until early morning.
