Il Borro is an estate that is owned by the Ferragamo family (the same family of the fashion label). Located about 45 minutes south of Florence the estate is set in a very rural and secluded area of Tuscany that makes it a perfect luxury retreat for discerning clients that want something unique and private.
The gated entrance is very impressive as is the cypress lined driveway that leads down to the villa. At the end of the driveway you pass the cantina and wine cellars and then reach the reception. The main villa remains on the other side of another gated area so you can start to get an idea of the privacy here. The main villa is gorgeous with spacious rooms and huge common areas. Amongst these areas there is a billiard room, a gym and indoor swimming pool. The resort also has a full spa complex and outdoor swimming pools.
Beside the rooms in the main villa extra accommodation is available in the village of Il Borro. The village is picture perfect and looking at it from the villa is almost like looking at a painting. At the center of the old village is a little square and the church where I have been fortunate enough to photograph many weddings. The grounds of the estate are extensive and so it is also easy to choose one of the many gardens or terraces for a beautiful symbolic ceremony under the Tuscan sun.
Beneath the main villa there is the Italian garden with its central fountain this is a wonderful spot for aperitivi and cocktails. Many people choose to have their reception on the lower terrace and look out over the Italian garden towards the medieval hamlet of Il Borro.
Il Borro is a Tuscan wedding venue that is extremely flexible and offers many solutions for any group size. I have photographed weddings at Il Borro that vary from small intimate quintessentially Tuscan affairs to large lavish affairs with 300 people.
When I photograph a wedding at Il Borro I am always amazed by the beauty of the place and the amount of potential it has as a wedding venue.
