Ferragamo wedding at Il Borro
On the 21st February 2009 I photographed the wedding of the daughter of Ferruccio Ferragamo, president of Salvatore Ferragamo. The wedding was held at the Tuscan estate Il Borro which is owner by her father.
Il Borro is located between Arezzo and Florence, nestled in the hills it is a very quiet location that consists of the medieval village of Il Borro, the padronal villa and surrounding properties which are all part of the Ferragamo estate. The villa is surrounded by the vineyards that produce the excellent wines that stock the magnificent cellars. The weather leading up to the wedding had been poor with a lot of rain, however, I was pleasantly surprised to see that on the wedding day it was sunny.
Here’s a photo of Il Borro the Borgo (hilltop village), this was taken from the main villa. The wedding ceremony was held in the little church located at the centre of the village.
The church is a simple yet intimate setting for a wedding.
The groom and his bestmen got ready in a separate villa away from the bride. The wedding was scheduled for 5:30pm which was just after sunset so I took the chance to take a few shots of the boys before we lost the light, especially as this was the first sunny day in what had been a very wet February.
The bride was taken to the church by her father in a classic Mini Cooper in British racing green.
As the Mini came down the long cypress lined driveway there was a warm glow of dusky light.
The ceremony was an intimate one with soft romantic lighting.
Although it was night when they came out of the church using the artificial light around the church we got some good shots.
The happy couple drove back to the villa in the Mini on their own.
Here’s a part of the amazing wine cellar at the villa.
The reception was a sumptous affair in a huge marquee.
